About

Hi, I'm Uco Mesdag a sysadmin by day and a coder by night. Currently living and working in The Netherlands as a senior Linux system engineer. I write about Linux, tech, code and other things that have my interest. With more then 15 years of IT experience behind me, of which a great part in French Guiana (a French oversea department in South America) where I worked at various jobs, among others with the European Space Center in Kourou and as a senior engineer in Cayenne.

In my free time I create applications using C++ and the Qt framework, and love rowing and traveling.

I wrote the original version of the GT-8 Fx FloorBoard software, software to manage the Boss GT-8 Guitar Effects Processor, now maintained by Colin Willcocks from New Zealand.

Also written by me a plugin for Android development with Sublime Text 3. And some other random stuff that is also, like most of my code, it's living on Bitbucket.

I'm from The Netherlands, the town of Hellevoetsluis to be precise, a town not so far from Rotterdam. I speak fluently Dutch, French and English.

I also actively support the EFF who uses the unique expertise of leading technologists, activists, and attorneys in their efforts to defend free speech online, fight illegal surveillance, advocate for users and innovators, and support freedom-enhancing technologies.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation is the leading nonprofit organization defending civil liberties in the digital world.

And this is my blog, and for those wondering about the domain of this blog allyourcodearebelongto.us or in short allyourco.de, it's a derivative of "All your base are belong to us".

"All your base are belong to us" is a broken English phrase found in the opening cut scene of the 1991 video game Zero Wing which became a popular Internet meme. The quote is included in the European version of the game, which features poorly translated English from the original Japanese version.
